PRT | Periradicular Therapy in Berlin-Frohnau
Periradicular therapy (PRT) is a minimally invasive treatment method in which a precise injection of a combination of medications is administered into the area of the spinal nerve roots and discs under computer tomographic navigation. This therapy aims to alleviate pain, reduce inflammation and improve mobility without surgery. Minimally invasive treatment of the intervertebral disc and nerve rootIn a healthy spine, the spinal cord and nerve roots are clearly separated from the intervertebral disc. However, in the case of a herniated disc, the swollen disc can press on the spinal cord and nerve root, causing pain and inflammation. Using computed tomography (CT) and laser-assisted navigation, a fine needle is inserted precisely into the herniated disc. An anti-inflammatory agent is then injected into the herniated disc to reduce the swelling. In addition, the injection temporarily numbs the nerve, flushes out pain and inflammation hormones and alleviates the symptoms. Thanks to the extremely fine needle, there is no risk of long-term damage to surrounding sensitive structures. Minimally invasive facet blockadeThis method enables targeted treatment of pain and inflammation in the small vertebral joints (facet joints). Here, too, a precise injection is performed under CT control to achieve fast and effective relief of symptoms. Both procedures offer a gentle and effective alternative to surgery for herniated discs and facet joint complaints. |
